INFORMATION ABOUT THE MUSEUM

Welcome to the Museum of Jewish Memory and the Holocaust in Ukraine. The work on the creation of this Museum started in 1999 and the it was opened in 2012.

The exhibition area of the museum is about 2 thousand square meters, which houses 4 permanent exhibition halls. The authors of the concept of the Museum are Igor Shchupak, Victor Gukaylo, Leonid Finberg. The main idea is to show the Holocaust in the context of Ukrainian and world history. Therefore, the first hall of the Museum is entitled "The World Destroyed by the Holocaust". It is dedicated to the unique Jewish culture that has developed over the centuries on Ukrainian lands. The Second Hall highlights the events of the Second World War and the Holocaust. The third hall, entitled “The World after the Holocaust. Jewish Culture”, shows the revival of Jewish life after the war and attempts to grasp the lessons of this genocide and other tragedies of the twentieth century. The fourth Hall presents a collection of Clocks of the 18th - early 20th centuries. Among them, there are fireplace, wall and carriage clocks. The collection is called "Clocks that saw the past."

The museum guide-tour begins from the hall dedicated to the values of Judaism, religion, traditions, the history of Jewish civilization, which over several centuries has been developed on Ukrainian lands but was almost totally destroyed during the Holocaust.
