Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” held a series of events dedicated to International Museum Day, which is celebrated annually on May 18. All events and activities on this day are traditionally related to the theme determined by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). In 2026, the celebration took place under the slogan “Museums Unite a Divided World.” It is extremely symbolic that the Museum’s close cooperation with the Hesed Menachem Foundation within the framework of the Jewish Heritage project is also designed to promote the unification of people and cultures.
So, especially for project participants who were unable to attend the festive events on May 17, a virtual tour of the temporary exhibition “Unknown Exhibits from the Museum’s Funds” was held. The artifacts from this exhibition had never been exhibited in a permanent exhibition before, and they could only be seen live for one day. The audience of the open lecture had a unique opportunity to see the pearls of the museum’s treasure, hear the stories associated with them, and learn about the amazing, and at the same time tragic, fates of their owners. The tour of the mysterious funds was conducted by the Museum’s researcher Dilfuza Hlushchenko.
Participants of the “Jewish Heritage” project were happy to join the virtual journey, felt involved in the holiday and became its active co-authors. Jewish heritage is multifaceted. Let's learn interesting things together!
